What is the minimum wage? Well, it depends.

There is a federal minimum wage, but the states can also set their own minimum. Therefore, the answer to “What is the minimum wage?” depends on where you are.

What if we add another variable: what you are doing (as in the labor category of the work)? What if the “minimum wage” changes based on where you are AND what you’re doing? That is essentially what the Wage Determination does. It’s a minimum wage that contractors must pay their employees under federal contracts based on where they are and what they are doing.

Wage Determinations are not simple of course, but this help you get the idea. Also, they are not optional. They are required by law.

In this episode, Kevin and Paul dig into what Wage Determinations are and how they work. If you manage a service contract from the government side or if you have (or want to have) a service contract from the industry side – then this episode is for you.
