Quality matters.
When we buy something, we want to know we got what we paid for (literally and figuratively.)
It’s no surprise that the FAR has an entire Part dedicated to how “quality” is defined, measured and tracked – as well as laying out some consequences of not delivering the expected quality (FAR Part 46).
This part prescribes policies and procedures to ensure that supplies and services acquired under Government contracts conform to the contract’s quality and quantity requirements. It covers a variety of topics like inspection, acceptance, warranty, and other measures associated with ensuring quality performance and delivery.
For this episode, we zoom out and focus on the basics of who is responsible on both sides for what and how “quality” is defined and then attained. This episode is for those who want to understand who’s responsible for quality…and in what ways.
Spoiler alert, it’s not just the contractors.
